CAROLINE DE BOISSIEU
A SINGULAR APPROACH
The complexity of the approach — the kind found in each of Caroline de Boissieu's works — is that of a palimpsest. This stratification, or perhaps better, sedimentation, which is often spoken of as a simple scraping of parchment, is here a long elaboration that conceals a desire to blur the trails, to break free of confinements: photography, acrylic, inks, pencil, pastel — every technique is called upon to give the project the fullness of its expression, its breath."
A. SARFATI, architect
It is natural that Caroline de Boissieu turns to increasingly limpid supports: translucent surfaces, then glass, allowing exterior light to pass through and animate her pictorial creations. Water, a source of inspiration, finds power, depth, and life within them. The use of glass leads her to explore the architectural dimension of her paintings. She conceives certain works as integral parts of buildings, into which they introduce their clarity. In collaboration with glassmakers and architects, she creates works designed to animate interior space.

Biography
A graduate of the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs, after a career as a fashion designer, Caroline de Boissieu devoted herself fully to her work as a visual artist in 2000. Driven by a deep sensitivity to material and light, she has developed a singular artistic language where a plurality of mediums intersect. Inks, acrylic, and tracing paper become tools of exploration, allowing her to express unique vibrations and play with transparencies and layering. At the heart of her work, light holds an essential place. Through subtle interplays of shadow and reflection, she breathes a living, almost kinetic dimension into her works, where each nuance seems to shift with the angle and intensity of the viewer's gaze. Recognized for her contemporary and poetic approach, her art is integrated into numerous projects alongside architects and designers, both in France and internationally. Whether through very large-format works on paper or site-specific interventions, Caroline de Boissieu infuses an artistic sensibility that enters into dialogue with spaces and the people who inhabit them.
